Aftermath of Jet, new job and Kanji continued…

So Jet happened. will not say much about it except, the UK English test beforehand was hard, and the interview went OK.

Moving on, my new job as a teacher is rewarding. Students really relying on me, remember my name and seem to like me :/ I also feel responsible for them getting their grades, yikes.

So started Kanji revision again today after a long break. Going well, at over 700 but revision time will be a lot shorter now since I work most of the day and the need to sleep early to rinse and repeat the cycle. Have retained a bunch of Kanji which is good, but just need to keep using Anki even if it’s only 30 mins a day. Will have to stretch my Kanji goal a little bit since I don’t have the hours in the day to commit to 30-35 any more per day. Let’s see what happens.

Good news is, I’m back! !!

  1. I’ll have to give you a retroactive “good luck on the JET test” since I missed your earlier posts, sorry (:

Working as a teacher is alot of fun. I was a TA in college for 2 years and I really enjoyed it, and I still consider going back to teach someday.

What subject are you teaching? Sorry if I missed that in an earlier post.

    • Hello,

It has been an age! Well teaching Science and Maths at a local school.

It’s going well, the students love me to bits…which is strange as they are all the “trouble makers”…but I think they are all awesome. I just want them to do well, it’s annoying how the system has them all bogged down making them think they are “stupid”, they are all talented kids.

That aside, thanks for the luck, gosh the results are next month and I almost don’t want to think about it. 2bh, I’m so tired most days that I can’t think about it if I wanted to. Whatever will be, will be.

How are things for you? Sorry I’ve been away for a while, time to get back into the swing of things!

      • Teaching science and math, sounds pretty fun. Actually, I have a little experience myself teaching/tutoring and I enjoyed it so much I hope to go back to that some day, maybe become a college teacher. I think my interest in teaching is one reason I started my Japanese blog, though to be fair I still have a lot to learn in that department.

Hopefully your job schedule eases up and/or you get more used to it so you can have a little more free time to study Japanese (among other things).

I’ve been ok, tackling three different things lately related to Japanese and trying to divide up my time between those and my family and job – a crazy balancing act as usual. Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll finish up one of these items (reading a novel in Japanese) and be able to get a little more freedom in other areas.
